If your child is preparing to enter Year 7 and want to know more about the public secondary school options in our area, or you know someone who is interested in enrolling at our school, try findmyschool.vic.gov.au today

Classroom Split Information

Unfortunately, from time to time we need to split classrooms.  We do this for staff illness at short notice and only on the first day of absence, once per term, per classroom.

Much consideration is given to these occasions and we consider the following aspects:

  • Educational impact of staff absences
  • Social & emotional impact for students of staff absences
  • Work load issues relating subsidiary staff
  • Employment requirement of 3hrs minimum to cover classes
  • Relevant & related age-appropriate work for students during staff absences; and
  • Impact on other classrooms during class splits.

Classroom splitting (excerpt from our policy approved by AEU sub-branch)

  1. Our school will split grades for staff absences on their first day of illness (for a maximum of once per term) into rooms of Junior Class to Junior Area & Senior Classes to Whole School.
  2. Alternate days will have a CRT provided.
  3. Staff attending days of Professional Development will be provided with CRT coverage.
  4. Specialist teachers will be covered by CRT’s where it is practical for them to be covered.
  5. All CRT coverage is subject to availability & Budget restraints
  6. Grade Splits in term one for Foundation rooms is NOT to occur.
