Year 9 News

Term 2

Year 9’s have had an action packed term so far, kicking off with our Pathways day which was held on Monday 5th of May. This day gave students an opportunity to work with staff from Monash University exploring options including University, TAFE and work. Students also worked on their MIPS (Managed Individual Pathway) updating their plans with future goals. If you are a year 9 parent I encourage you to have a chat with your child about the day.

NAPLAN online has begun and students have been applying themselves very well to the tasks. We have had a strong focus on learning growth this year in year 9 with that theme running through assemblies and home group activities. We have also held student conferences for English and Maths.  Students met with their teachers and worked out some key improvement strategies. The NAPLAN will allow students to see how much growth they have made since year 7 and we are looking forward to the results in September.

Exams will be the next big thing for year 9 students and these will be commencing in the first week of June. At this stage students should be starting to revise for their exams by doing things such as making summary notes from their class notes and completing revision activities set by their teachers.

Looking forward into term 3 students will be undertaking subject selections for 2020. Students who wish to be considered for accelerated VCE studies must ensure they are doing very well in their current subjects.
