During Term 1, 3 of our year 10 art students were lucky enough to do their work experience at some of the state’s biggest Art Galleries.

Charlotte Dean Ashton did her work experience at  the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.

Matthew Lewis and Emma Carey spent a week at the National Gallery Of Victoria in the city.

These students all got to experience the exciting behind the scenes workings of a gallery, including exhibition planning and display, shipping of artworks,  education programs and retail outlet operations.

What a wonderful experience for these keen and motivated Art students!

“Working for the Mornington regional gallery was thrilling experience that educates both visitors and myself of the space and responsibilities of the galleries management. I was fortunate enough to be able to pack and ship artworks for upcoming exhibitions (including napoleon’s guitar!), do craft activities with kids and work reception duties. Working at the gallery I was able to build a better understanding of the gallery positions, the kind hearted team and our community. I definitely would recommend this experience to students who want to pursue a future in art.”
