Let's talk attendance

What do I do if my child misses a day of school?
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
• being sick, or having an infectious disease
• having an unavoidable medical appointment
• being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
• exceptional or urgent family circumstance, such as attending a funeral
Following an absence from school you must, within 7 days, provide the school with a verbal or written explanation for the absence. An SMS message will be sent from our school to your mobile number and you can respond with a reason as to why your child has been away.
It is important to remember, that every day our school is open, your child is expected to attend. If your child has frequent absences, the school will contact you to discuss your child's attendance. An attendance letter discussing our concerns will be sent to you and a Home School Liaison Officer may contact you if the attendance rate of your child doesn't improve.
