Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at
St. Mary’s. It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a
Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.
Sacramental Program - begins
Congratulations to the twenty five children who have commenced the sacramental preparation to make their first Eucharist in November. Please keep these children in your prayers at this special time in their faith journey.
One Million Children praying the Rosary.
October is recognised as the month of the Rosary. On Friday 18th October, in order to inspire a new awareness for the theme of Mission in the World, Pope Francis has proclaimed an Extraordinary Month of Mission and to recognise this important cause this Friday we will join with "one million children praying the rosary for unity and peace". This will take place at the beginning of Assembly on Friday when we will begin with a decade of the Rosary. Please join us to be part of this special prayer time.
Family Mass
Sunday 10th November will be the celebration of a Family Mass at St. Mary's at 10.00am. The Junior Unit will be organising the readers, choir and offertory people etc for this mass. We hope to see a large number of our school families present at this eucharistic celebration.
Bishop Shane Mackinlay to be ordained -
Today the Episcopal Ordination of our new Bishop was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo.
Bishop Shane will be a fine pastoral leader in our Diocese. After university studies in Louvain he was Master of the Catholic Theological College which is linked to the Australian Catholic University. As well as lecturing, he was Parish Priest in the Ballarat Diocese and so he brings to us pastoral experience and scholarly expertise. Perhaps most of all, he is a people's person with youth on his side. We welcome Bishop Shane to our Diocese and look forward to him visiting St. Mary's in the near future.
Socktober
We are again raising awareness and money for Catholic Mission with our Socktober Appeal. "Sock it to poverty" by helping out with this appeal. Please give generously to this appeal. Each class has a "sock jar" to collect their donations.
New Readers and Special Ministers
St Mary's Parish would like to invite people who would like to read at Mass or become a special minister as Parish masses (secondary students welcome) to contact the Parish Office or Mrs Lee.
Sacramental Program -
First Eucharist will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November for children who have currently commenced their sacramental journey and made their Reconciliation.
