Principal's Announcements

Bishop for Sandhurst
Today Mons Peter, Mrs Lee and myself attended the installation of Sandhurst's new bishop Shane Mackinlay. It is a very significant day for the diocese and we look forward to welcoming Bishop Shane to Mooroopna in the near future.
Exciting News!!
Congratulations to Miss Drummond and her fiance Dave on their engagement on the weekend. We are all thrilled to hear your exciting news and we wish them every blessing and best wishes for the future!!
Interschool Athletics
Well done to the Gr 3-6 students who took part in last week's inter school athletics days. I was thrilled to hear the St Mary's students performed so well, but even more proud of the wonderful way they conducted themselves. We had many children represent St Mary's at the Zone athletics day on Monday which was fantastic! Well done to the following students who have made it through to the regional level:
Student 1st Aid
On Monday all students took part in children's 1st Aid classes ran by St John's Ambulance. I encourage all parents to discuss the lessons with your children and discuss what to do when we are injured.
Bingo Donation
Thank you to the St Mary's Bingo team who passed on another $3000 to the school this week. These much needed funds assist our school with classroom resources and maintenance around the school. I would also like to thank all the parents who volunteer their time on the bingo roster. Without your help, our school would not benefit from this financial input that has continued now for over 40 years!
Parent Survey
All parents and carers have been contacted via Care Monkey to complete our Annual School Board Survey. I know a number of you have already completed the survey which is greatly appreciated. The responses provide us with some valuable data that assists us in identifying areas of school operations we can improve. The surveys will remain open for another two weeks.
Gr 3 Camp
Good luck to the Gr 3's who are off to Bendigo for their camp tomorrow. I look forward to hearing about their fun activities when they return.
Year 7 Greater Shepparton College
Many of you would know that the Year 7 students attending the new Greater Shepparton College will be going to the current McGuire College site. Further information (including bus services) will be passed on to Gr 6 students who have indicated they will be attending the Super School.
It is a good idea for our Gr 5 parents to start discussing High School for 2021, as enrolment process starts early Term 2.
Principals Award
Week 1
Congratulations to Darcy Shanahan on receiving the Principals award this week.
St Mary's Pacing Superstar!
Congratulations to Sarah Walsh (Gr 6 MH) who has been selected to represent Victoria at the upcoming Junior Inter Dominion Pacing Series in New Zealand. What an amazing achievement! Good luck Sarah!!
Krispy Kremes
Thank you to everyone for supporting the P&F's Krispy Creme fundraiser. I know it was a big hit and there were many excited families on Friday. Thank you to the P&F for organising the fundraiser.
New Defibrullator
The school and parish have purchased a new defibrillator which has been installed in the Marian Centre foyer. Merv Fernando kindly organised the purchase through his business Indigenous Medical Supplies.
Mr Butts' Jokes of the Week
My friends don't like it it when I steal their kitchen utensils - but that's a whisk I am willing to take!
Two flies are on the verandah, which one is the actor? The one on the screen!
