ENROLMENTS FOR 2022

Enrolments are now being taken for 2022. Parents who are aware of friends, neighbours or relatives who have a child ready to start school in 2021, please let them know that enrolments are now being taken. As in previous years, Mrs Bentata-Grimm and I are also available to answer questions or show interested parents and students around our school.

NAPLAN – NATIONAL TESTS

Our grades 3 and 5 children are completing their national tests in reading, writing, maths and language this week.  We wish to congratulate students for taking this important work in their stride. They have worked very hard practising over recent weeks and we know will be doing their best each day. Whilst this is considered an important assessment tool, we must remember it is just one snapshot on a given day. Classroom teachers are undertaking a range of ongoing assessments to provide comprehensive evaluations of each student’s learning in order to inform their future teaching and to provide accurate semester reports to parents.

SEMESTER REPORTS

Teachers have begun assessments that will contribute to end of first semester reports. This year our reports will be delivered to parents via Compass in an effort to reduce paper usage. This will enable parents to download reports and store them electronically. The format of the reports is very similar to the previous format.

Most schools have moved to electronic reports over the past few years, we are confident these will help give a snapshot of your child’s learning at a point in time. Student, parent, teacher conferences are scheduled for term 3.

LUNCHTIME ACTIVITIES

Offering children a variety of choices during lunchtimes remains a focus at our school. Now that restrictions have lifted for us throughout the school day we are able to again broaden choices across the school week. The following activities that being offered and supervised by our staff, who generously give some of their lunchtime to support such activities, on various days, throughout the week:-

  • Indoor Games
  • Lunchtime Library
  • Lunchtime Choir
  • Envirostars
  • Japan Club
  • Free drawing and Chess in our Arts area
  • Outside games such as quoits, jenga and noughts and crosses.

Activities such as these support our students’ learning, build friendships, develop social skills and help ensure our school is a safe and happy place.

2021 INTENSIVE SWIMMING PROGRAM

We just wanted to let you know that planning is currently underway to offer our Intensive Swimming Program to all year levels in term three. The exact details are being organised and we will keep parents informed. It’s terrific to know we can again organise this excellent program that supports our students to be confident swimmers and develop much needed water safety skills.

CURRICULUM DAY - NO SCHOOL

The next Curriculum Day elected and approved by School Council is Wednesday, 26th May. Please pop it into your diaries as there will be no school for children on this day. Our Before and After Care program will be operating.
