Year 8 Netball

On Tuesday May 18th, some of our year eights participated in the Interschool Girls Netball Competition at the Geelong Basketball Netball Centre. I was lucky enough to coach the B team alongside Saije Osler. We played Geelong High first and won that 10 to 8. Our second game was played against Surf Coast who won. Our team made the semi-finals against North Geelong, and moved onto the grand final with a 14 to 2 victory, which lead us to the finals against Surf Coast where we were defeated. The girls showed some amazing team work and skills throughout the whole day with great improvement. It was a fun day out for everyone who attended. We would like to thank; Scarlett Dixon, Olivia Noulikas, Sienna Harrison, Maddie Henwood, Leila McGregor, Quinn Watson, Zali Doslov, Gemma Ellis, Zoe McMeekin and Layla Hulston.

Ava Kasperovic 10B 

I was very lucky to have been able to attend the Interschool Girls Netball day and coach the A team alongside Ms Stacey. The first game we played was against Northern Bay and we had an outstanding win, 27 to 1. In the second game we played against Lara, our first half we won 13 to 4, by the second half Lara caught up and scored 7 goals but our girls pulled through and ended up winning 16 to 11! Our team was lucky enough to progress onto the semi-finals. Our third game was against Bellarine, unfortunately we lost this game with an end score of 4 to 20. We had a very successful day and the girls showed amazing team work throughout the whole day, and improved their skills. I hope next year we are able to come back even stronger and come away with the victory! It was a very fun day out and thank you to everyone who attended. We would like to thank; Erin Healey, Isabella Swan, Matilda Hagebols, Libby Orr, Molly Tyrrell, Tilly Morgan, Lidia Sweeny, Jeanne Konomou and Jade Van Dort for playing in the A-team.

I would like to say a big thank you to all participants who represented Matthew Flinders Girls so beautifully on the day. 

I would also like to extend a special thank you to Ava Kasperovic, Saije Osler and Ella Puttyfoot for their enthusiasm and assistance on the day.
