HASS field trip

Exploring Elizabeth Quay and East Perth

Year 10 Geography excursion

Year 10 Humanities and Social Sciences classes recently spent a day exploring levels of well-being of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in Elizabeth Quay and East Perth.

Students spent the morning with Justin Martin from Djurandi Dreaming, a Nyungar and Yamatji man who shared his knowledge of past well-being issues towards Indigenous people and about the surrounding environment of Elizabeth Quay. Students then made their way into East Perth visiting Wellington Square, Wittenoon Street, Royal Street and finishing up in Claisebrook Village.   Along this “water” path, students observed changes in services and infrastructure impacting levels of well-being.

Great weather, engaged students and an interesting focus meant everyone had an educational day out of the classroom.

Thank you to the Humanities staff who assisted with the fieldwork.
