Semester One reports and subject selection

Year 11 Information

As the end of Semester One approaches, the process of future academic pathways and subject selection for 2022 begins. There are some important Year 11 events that are part of the subject selection process which are outlined below:

  • Tuesday 8 June:         Semester 2 Units commenced
  • Monday 28 June:   Year 12, 2022 Subject Selection Information Period 6, Xanten Theatre
  • Wednesday 28 July:  Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews, 12-7pm

Year 11 ATAR students will receive a Predicted ATAR letter shortly and all students will be receiving their Semester 1 Reports. I encourage all students and parents/carers to reflect on these results and to set clear goals for the remainder of the year.  Year 11 students wishing to change subjects or pathways this year, need to make an appointment with Ms Rainford as soon as possible. Changes need to occur as soon as possible to avoid missing Semester 2 work. Changes will only occur with teacher approval, room in the class and if the Minimum Entry Requirement is met.

Calendar

Term 3 commences on Tuesday 20 July and concludes on Thursday 23 September

Home Study Days in Term 3 are Wednesday, 28 July and Thursday 19 & Friday 20 August

Year 10 Subject Selection Information Evening

The end of Term Two and the commencement of Term Three represent a crucial time for Year 10 students in determining their pathway into Year 11, Year 12 and eventually post school. Year 10 students have already commenced this process with important information being provided to them about the pathways and subjects on offer in Year 11 as well as details regarding the process for selecting their courses for next year.

There will be an online Subject Selection Information Evening for all Year 10 students and their parents on Wednesday, 30 June commencing at 6.00pm. This will be conducted through a Year 10 team in Microsoft Teams enabling families to access the presentation from home. On this evening, all the information regarding the process for selecting subjects will be again made available for students and parents. Please keep this date free and tune into the online meeting to learn about this important process. A reminder also that the selection process for Year 11 in 2022 will conclude on Tuesday, 10 August when the Course Counselling interviews are held for all Year 10 students and their parents here at the College. Further information regarding these interviews will be shared through the online presentation in Week 11.

Student Contacting Parents From School

Every day, circumstances arrive whereby a student may need to make contact with their parent. This could be due to feeling ill, having left something essential at home or because they need to confirm after school arrangements. Whilst we encourage students to be prepared and organised for their day ahead, we accept that at times this is necessary. In these circumstances, students are required to come to Student Services to make parent contact as students should not be texting, calling or emailing parents directly.

It is also important to remember that students are not allowed to be using their mobile phones between their arrival to school and the end of the school day as they should be safely secured in their locker. Parents are asked to remind their children of this expectation and not to engage with their children in conversations during school time – whether it be through text or emails. This is especially important if their child is ill, upset or feeling uncomfortable at school as the school has services at the ready to support those students.
