Term 2, 2021

This Term…

Welcome to Term 2. We hope you all had a lovely break.

Note to parents…

Our excursion to the Immigration Museum and Cook’s Cottage will be on Thursday 13 of May. This will be part of our new unit of inquiry and is a wonderful day for the students.

Literacy

Grammar

Currently our focus is on nouns, verbs and adjectives in context. We are using Kid News to teach this in context.

Directed Writing

Students will explore a variety of writing traits as they investigate Australian history. Students will also focus on informative writing.

Spelling

Students will continue to focus on individual spelling words each week as within the SMART spelling approach.

Reading

Students are encouraged to participate in the Premiers Reading Challenge. Reading to Self, Reading to Someone and Listen to Reading will continue in our class time this term, with a particular focus on reading stamina as part of the Daily 5 & CAFÉ Frameworks. There is a continued expectation that the students read regularly at home, a minimum of three nights. This needs to be recorded in student diaries and signed by parents. Thank you for your ongoing support.
