The Yr 8 RAK Project

From Monday 9 to Friday 13 November is NHS’ Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week. This week highlights the importance of giving and helping others.

Each Tutorial class will be doing various acts of kindness throughout the week. Our goal is to naturally do acts of kindness for people, all living things and our Earth every day!

Monday- Have a Kindness essay, poem and song contest or create an acrostic poem for the word KINDNESS.

Tuesday- Pick up a piece of rubbish day

Wednesday- Give up your seat on the bus, tram or train

Thursday- Have a Nude Food day and be kind to the environment. Students are encouraged to bring non packaged foods to school

Friday- Shakey Friday- shake the hand of a person in your class and farewell them with a nice message

Your child’s participation in the week will also require them to complete a 5 day RAK challenge to help raise funds for Friends of Hudad https://chuffed.org/project/year8-randomactsofkindness

Friends of Hudad have a close connection to NHS as it is managed by one of our parents and local doctor.

Your child will decide on 5 acts they will perform during the week. Your child will write a journal about their experience. Your child also has the options of asking friends, family and community members to donate funds for their participation towards to Friends of Hudad to help raise needed funds for a water pump. This is created through a Chuffed Fundraising site.

Tutorial class participation

Each Year 8 Tutorial class will be working on completing a RAK project. 8Ghas already done this by assisting with the Merri Creek PS Marathon Fundraiser.

Please chat with your child about their 5 RAK challenge. Your child will be bringing home a RAK booklet to complete during this week and requires a parent/guardian signature.
