We have had another fun filled fortnight in Music classes, singing, listening, playing and moving!
We have listened to a Maori Welcome Song and identified the ukelele as the accompanying instrument.
It was fantastic to have a solo performance at a recent Assembly and in case you couldn't be there, Taylor from Grade 1 bravely sang, The New Zealand National Anthem, unaccompanied and in the native Maori language. What a beautiful voice he has! Well done Taylor! I look forward to many more performances at Assemblies in the future.
The choir is progressing well. It is hoped our first performance will be at Assembly the last week of Term. Choir is open to students from Grades 3 - 6 and rehearsals are each Tuesday at 11am in the Music room.
Students in Grades 4/5/6 have started to identify and locate # (sharp) notes on the keyboard and xylophones. They have used these to create accompaniments for George Ezra's "Shotgun" and Queen's "We Are the Champions", both also sung with great gusto!
In F/1 and 2/3, students have continued to develop their collaborative and listening skills when working with percussion instruments.
It was lovely to hear one student say, "We're getting better".
