Supporting Respectful Relationships

Teaching Respectful Relationships in our school helps us to:

  • Build a culture of gender equality
  • Challenge restrictive gender stereotypes
  • Increase positive bystander action
  • Promote respect and inclusion
  • Build resilient young people
  • Prevent Family Violence and Gender-based Violence
  • Develop social and emotional learning

What families can do to help:

  • Be careful of language eg. boys don’t cry
  • Facilitate and encourage emotion, including crying
  • Promote girls independence and decision making
  • Model equal and respectful relationships in your life
  • Challenge gender stereotypes and roles for boys and girls
  • Teach your kids to do everything (inside and outside jobs)

Unfortunately our information night about the Respectful Relationships program for parents of students in Prep to Y2, which was going to be held next Wednesday night, is postponed due to COVID restrictions.
