WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

WONDER RECYCLING

We are so happy to announce we have joined the Wonder Recycling Rewards program 😊 This is a fun and easy program for Aussie schools to recycle bread bags that might otherwise go to landfill, and earn rewards points to redeem new sports equipment for our efforts. All the collected plastic will be used to create wonderful new things like school play equipment!

Here at SMPPS we are asking you collect your old bread bags (any brand) and bring them into school and drop them in one of the pink collection boxes across the school. Most learning spaces have a collection box and there is one at the office.

BUNNINGS

A massive thank you goes to our local Bunnings. Bunnings Port Melbourne have very generously donated a large amount of supplies for our garden club. They have donated soil and potting mix ready for to fill our converted filing cabinet planter boxes, alongside gardening tools and lots of seeds, that students have already enjoyed using in the garden.

GARDEN CLUB

Students in the garden club have been enjoying getting into the garden every Monday lunchtime. We have been busy prepping the soil, mixing in our worm tea and additional fertiliser. We have also been planting some veggies and herbs that are well suited to being sown in Autumn. We have planted some straight into the garden beds and some in compostable pots that we will transfer to the garden beds once they have sprouted.

FRUIT TREE PLANTER BOXES

We have now received our beautiful looking planter boxes from Dan The Vegie Bin Man. Thank you to Lily Leung for contacting and organising these bins. The students who were responsible in securing the grant for these planter boxes and fruit trees are finalising the results from their survey, where they asked the students for their preference of fruit tree for SMPPS. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will have decided the type of tree and have them ready to plant.
