WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

TEAM 1 / 2

This term in Curiosity,  we have become scientists. We have explored different materials and created experiments to see how they react with each other. We have been ‘awed’, ‘wowed’ and ‘amazed’ by the fun and engaging experiments. We have used scientific skills to predict, observe and explain the experiments as we conduct them in the classroom.

This term, we have also been learning all about the writing process. We have been working through the stages of the ‘writing cycle’ just like real authors to produce text types such as narratives, descriptions and information reports.

First we generate and collect our ideas. We record our ideas in our Writer’s Notebooks. We can use photos, objects and topics we like to spark our thoughts.

Next we move onto the planning stage. The planning stage is where we organise our ideas. We can use a planner by drawing or writing to help plan our writing.

Then we can start our draft. This is where we use our ideas in our plans to start writing. We focus on using lots of interesting and relevant information.

After finishing our draft, we revise our writing. We re-read our writing to make sure that it makes sense. We can add interesting words to make sure that it is entertaining for the audience. Once we have revised, we move onto the editing stage. This is where we check my punctuation and spelling. We need to make sure we have included capital letters and full stops.

Finally it is time to publish! We have explored different ways to present our writing to an audience. We have used the iPads to type our drafts and print photos to create posters and books. We have loved publishing our writing!
