WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

Dear parents and carers,

Yesterday the Acting Premier has announced new circuit breaker restrictions for Victoria to swiftly address the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

The restrictions will be in place from Friday for a seven-day period. Following advice from

the Victorian Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible learning from Monday the 31st of May to Thursday the 3rd of June inclusive.

Friday the 28th of May is a student-free day to allow schools time to prepare. Remote and flexible learning begins on Monday 31st of May.

As with other remote learning periods, our school will provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:

Children where both parents and/or carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:

o   Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision

o   For single parents/ carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

o   children in out-of-home care

o   children deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and is assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home

o   children identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service.

If your child requires on-site supervision, please contact the office on 9398 3396. The same arrangements apply to our Outside School Hours Care service, TheirCare.

NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR YEAR 2-6 STUDENTS

As many of you are aware the school is in desperate need of additional play equipment for our older students. I am pleased to inform the school community that School Council approved $150,000 of school funds for a playground project.  To be open and transparent the funds are coming from the following sources:

  • $13,150 (Families & Friends Fundraising events of 2019 and 2020)
  • $5,308 (2020 Parent Voluntary Contributions)
  • ·$5,880 (2021 Parent Voluntary Contributions)
  • $25,000 (Predicted Families & Friends 2021 Fundraising events)

Total $ 49, 338.00

  • School Funds $100,000.00 (surplus funds from 2020 as expenses were not as high due to remote learning, along with a “loan” from establishment funds the school received from the Department to cover future expenses as the school grows eg furniture)
  • Families & Friends projected revenue for 2022 $30,000.00

School Council approved funds raised by Families & Friends in 2022 will go towards the project reducing the $100,000 “loan” to approx. $70,000.  Additional donations made towards the Playground fund throughout 2021/22 will also be allocated to the Playground fund, reducing further, the school’s contribution.

NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT PROJECT WORKING PARTY

I am seeking expressions of interest from one or two parents who would like to be a part of new play equipment project working party.  If this is something that interests you please send me an email.  I look forward to working with the students, staff, School Council and parents on this exciting project.
