Sports News

Sport is unfortunately on hold once again, due to Covid Lockdown restrictions. At present we are waiting for official word from School Sport Victoria for dates and arrangements for rescheduled events. We will do our best to keep everyone updated with what will happen with the sports that we have missed so far and sport for the rest of this term. But in the meantime we can bring you the reports from a few events that students took part in at the end of May.
Yr 7/8 Netball Tournament
Once again due to the popularity of year 7 and 8 netball, we held a tryout tournament at Coburg Basketball Stadium on May 25. It was a fun day for all involved, as it was not only an opportunity to get selected for our Division Squads, but also fantastic opportunity for our junior girls to get active, playing netball all day with their friends and hopefully meeting some new ones. We were lucky enough to have the help of our student coaches, selectors, and umpires to help make the run smoothly. Thank you to Iris Bentley, Bella Collodetti, Xalia Sheehan and Bell Stafford - we honestly could not have done it without your help.
Yr 9/10 Soccer
We were lucky enough to squeeze in Year 9/10 Division Soccer which was held on May 27 just before lockdown. The team finished the day undefeated, beating Reservoir in a close final that had to be played in extra time. It was an even team performance. Darcy Allen, Vanya Swinnerton and Kaan Kilic all played well. Thank you to Mr Prowse-Wilkins coaching and team selection.
Yr 9/10 Badminton
Well done to our Yr 9/10 Badminton teams who recently competed in the Division Tournament at Darebin Community Sports Centre
It was tough going for our Yr 9/10 Girls team who were a player short due to illness. This meant the team had to forfeit a game each time their fourth player was due to take the court. The girls took it in their stride and still had a great day.
The boys team all played well together a came away with a few wins. Both teams should be congratulated on their determination and team spirit.
Coming up
Division Athletics
The Division Athletics Carnival has been re-scheduled to go ahead on July 14, this is of course subject to change. We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed. We will have a meeting with the Team, in the week prior to the proposed date.
Stay well and stay active!
