Year 8 Camp
Contemplating the abseiling challenge!
This year, our Year 8 students were the lucky cohort who had a brand-new camp experience. For the first time, we worked with Hall’s Outdoor Education to offer a journey based outdoor education camp. Between Monday 17 May- Wednesday 26 May, all Year 8 classes spent three days at Kurth Kiln Regional Park near Gembrook. During the camp, students stayed in tents, cooked meals as a group, hiked between camp sites, spent a half day on a mountain biking adventure, abseiled near Shiprock falls and explored the caves running behind the waterfall. It was an action packed (and chilly!) three days, and it certainly meant all students appreciated their warm beds when they got home!
Although many students (and teachers) were horrified at the idea of three days without proper toilets or showers, we all came out the other side proud of our achievements. Every student challenged themselves and must be commended on their enthusiasm and team spirit. They encouraged and supported each other through each activity, and friendships within and across Connect groups were strengthened.
Enjoy a few of our highlights!
