Reconciliation Week 2021

MORE THAN A WORD. RECONCILIATION TAKES ACTION

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This years theme " More than a word, Reconciliation takes action" urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action.

At Hampstead Primary this year we participated in a wide range of learning activities and shared our experiences at our special Reconciliation assembly on Wednesday.

Some of our activities included...

We were fortunate to have  Aboriginal Artists Janikah and Alison

Did some printing and made a wonderful movie about our learning journey this week.....

Read dreaming stories and designed our own Rainbow snake

Studied the Aboriginal flag and made Australian maps with their colours to represent Indigenous owners of the land.
