Principal's Report
It’s hard to believe we are over halfway through the term already. Students have been involved in activities recognising Reconciliation Week, which culminated in a spectacular assembly hosted by the students from room 3, where all classes shared their learning. It was wonderful to see all of the activities that have been happening across the school, from poetry to art work. We were fortunate to have a guest Aboriginal artist, Janikah Newchurch, work with some of our students on Monday to produce Aboriginal dot paintings. Other classes worked with Mr Stephen to produce their dot paintings. Many are on display in our Performing Arts Centre and look amazing.
Our Sports and Sport Activities Student Leadership Team have organised Volleyball Clinics for students across the school. This has certainly promoted a new found interest in the sport and I’ve seen many students practicing their volleyball skills in the yard at playtimes. The team are busy organising other sport clinics for the students which will occur throughout the year. Our Environment and Sustainability Student Leadership Team have organised a ‘Go Green for World Environment Day’ next Monday 7th June. Students are encouraged to wear green and bring a gold coin donation. Our Student Pillars are heading to another conference next Thursday with our Partnership Schools. They will be presenting their findings around reading comprehension through the research they have been undertaking with students. They will also be analysing the Student Wellbeing and Engagement data and investigate how this connects to our reading data.
This week we farewell Ms Sara as she heads off on Maternity Leave. We wish her all the very best and look forward to meeting her new baby. We welcome Alexia Surace from next week who will be the new teacher in room 3.
