Year 9 and Year 5 Camps

Last week these groups attended camps and were blessed with some wonderful weather. It is hoped that the Year 5 boys were able to learn a little more about their fellow classmates outside of the classroom, which will help them build relationships within their cohort as they continue to grow together. The Year 9 camp was all about personal challenge and decision making through a range of outdoor educational activities, including hiking, rope courses and initiative games.  My thanks to the staff who attended and provided this opportunity for our boys.

College Expectations

Last Wednesday at the College assembly, Mr Newman and  Mr McPhee provided the students with some very explicit directions with regards to the College’s expectations and outlined some clear consequences. Having said that, none of the expectations raised are new and the boys are always frequently reminded throughout the year, particularly of uniform expectations. A summary is written below:

  • Winter Uniform: Seniors to wear blazers to and from school, tie and top button secured, socks to the knees if wearing shorts, socks with long pants are plain black or grey (without logos or prints), blue bumble bee or grey College long socks, slimline black belts.

A reminder to primary school students that when wearing your sport uniform the navy fleece or grey school jumper can be worn. If wearing your formal uniform the grey jumper is to be worn. Hoodies and sports jackets are not a part of the regular school uniform however can be worn at weekend sport.

  • There has been a growing problem of school bags being left around the yard during break times instead of in lockers. Boys were reminded to put their bags in their lockers to create a safe environment or be issued with an afternoon detention.
  • If you as a family decide to allow your son to bring a phone to school, it is to be kept in their locker during the day. There are times in some subjects when teachers may use phone apps to assist in learning. Teachers will indicate this to the boys and communicate with other staff when this occurs. At other times, boys found with a phone on them will have it confiscated and can be collected at the end of the day. A second phone confiscation will incur an internal suspension and contact home by the Pastoral Leader to discuss options in moving forward.
  • Logo/branded sports bags are also a growing problem but unfortunately, the uniform shop is out of supply of the College sports bag. I recognise that this poses a problem for families which hopefully will be resolved in semester 2 with the arrival of new stock.

In addition, the Pastoral Leaders are encouraging the boys to look their best by having a supply of black shoe polish.

Vape Nation

Below I have included links to two relevant articles on vaping. Our College is not immune to this fad and parents need to be aware of the serious associated health risks.

Walkathon

We hope to see as many families as possible this Sunday for the annual school walkathon. This is a compulsory event for all students (those unable to attend will do a makeup walkathon Friday 11 May).

Remember to continue fundraising. Please refer to the Major Prizes as indicated below.
