2019 PARENTS ASSOCIATION THANK YOU & WRAP UP

 

A big thank you to 2019’s Parent’s Association outgoing committee & project coordinators: Fundraising - Amy Newman, Sharee Logan, Verna Kristy, Kristina Sestokas, Adele Coone; Connectorbugs - Toby Cumming, Bron, Pete; Orchard to Plate - Dianne McDonald, Karen Tan, Megan Reeve, Vicky Palmieri, Craig Newell, Rike Clemens and previous P&F - Angela Ashley-Chiew, Kellie Burnham, Rosa Cursio, Michelle Diep, Sarah Griffioen, Carmen Griffiths, Jane Kemp, Emily Re, Kirsten McKenzie, Claire Denby, Mo Cushnie, Teresa MacIntosh and Suzanne Mosca on their work and commitment to PA (nee P&F), many serving over the last 2 years. (Disclaimer: there have been so many wonderful volunteers who donated their time and energy to activities this year, we’ve tried very hard to include everyone. If by chance we have forgotten to include your name please know you are still very much appreciated!)

2019 ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Supported by over 150 other parents and the school, these coordinators and project managers have made significant contribution to our school and have fostered a sense of community, belonging and parent involvement.  Many will still be active within PA in 2020 in other roles. As they say… variety is the spice of life!  Throughout the year we have supported the school community in the following areas:

 

+ Welcomed new 2019 Prep families at Welcome Prep Morning Tea

+ Held our second BBQ & Bowls community event with 77 parents and children attending

+ Fundraising team secured money for a defibrillator, running a cake and plant stall at the Colour Festival

+ Provided coffee cakes and sausages on Election Day

+ Thrilled parents and children alike with our fabulous Easter Raffle

+ Raised over $800 for Cancer Council with Biggest Morning Tea

+ Connector Bugs brought the parent volunteers together at the annual Winter Solstice

+ Coordinated community talks on Growth Mindset and Respectful Relationships attended by 121 parents

+ All programs were represented and supported the School’s Windows of the West

+ Researched, embraced and accepted the Department of Education’s new requirements for Parents Associations, including adopting and coordinating approval for a new constitution (available for viewing at the front office) that encompasses all our parent led programs at FWPS. Following this, amalgamating P&F, Orchard to Plate, Fundraising and Connector Bugs to ensure a more cohesive and streamlined parent volunteer group.

+ Earned $1,200 of equipment for the school by coordinating collection of Earn & Learn sticker campaign

+ Supported the school in running the biggest most successful Grandparents & Special Friends' Day to date

+ Raised over $1200 at Bunnings BBQ

+ Were integral in the food ticketing and support of this years Art show

+ Contributed $300 towards the Orchard To Plate cookbook project and program

+ Held 6 General meetings (with attendance on School Council and Junior School Council )

+ Generated $3500 from the sale (+ coordination and wrapping!) of over 2000 donated and purchased gifts at Mother's Day/ Father's Day/ Special Friends Day stalls

+ $2700 raised by our Second Hand Uniform Shop over 20 opens including pop up shops at Prep Picnics

+ Welcomed and engaged 2020 parents at the Prep Information/ Transition Day

+ Contributed $900 toward awards for grade 6 graduation

+ Donated $1000 toward All Aboard program
