Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY:  MONDAY 18th NOVEMBER

THIS IS A DOSCEL SCHOOL REVIEW DAY

CLASS PLACEMENT REQUESTS

Our school is beginning the processes of class structures for 2020. We are blessed to have such a knowledgeable staff who are aware of each students individual needs and who work collaboratively to make professional judgement in relation to class planning and student placement.

When deciding our individual class structures, a number of factors are taken into account, which include:

   Student’s social, emotional, academic and physical development

   Student’s cognitive development

   Student relationships

   Family dynamics, eg sibling placement

If your child has a particular need or there is important information that we should be aware of when considering class placement for the 2020 school year, we ask that parents put this information in writing and submit it via email to; principal@stlleongatha.catholic.edu.au by Friday October 18th.  Request after this date will not be accepted.

All requests are specifically about your child’s needs. It is not an opportunity to ask for your child to be placed within friendship or social groups. Obviously, we cannot accommodate requests for particular teachers; we can only look at the needs of each individual child.

Requests that are submitted in appropriate time and manner will be assessed and considered in conjunction with the other factors listed above.

CONGRATULATIONS:  We wish to congratulate Paul and Rebecca Bordonaro on the safe arrival of Samuel.  A little brother for Levi and Isla.

SCHOOL FEES 2019:  DOSCEL requests that we are not to hold liabilities at the end of each year, therefore if you are on a payment plan and have met your 2019 commitment, please suspend your payments until Feb 2020.  If we are direct debiting for you, we will let you know when we are suspending your payments and recommencing again.   Those on a subsidy will continue as normal or until the office contacts you.

A reminder that if you are not on a payment plan, or informed the school of your intentions, school fees should be paid in full at your earliest convenience please.

School fees should never cause financial distress to our families.   If your family situation has changed and you find that you are having difficulties in meeting your school fees commitment, please make an appointment with  Kate Dourley to discuss options on how we can best assist your family.

Before the end of term 3 we will be sending home the 2020 school fee schedule.  There will be paperwork that will need your attention and forms to be returned.

REFLECTION - An extract from Along the Track by Jim Quillinan

Spring is a time for cleaning out and making way for fresh possibilities and new commitments. It's a time to revive our appreciation of what is good and positive, a time to look for new growth, to look for what is beautiful in our own lives and to expand our horizons. It is a time to reflect that “Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5) and ask the Spirit to make us worthy of this earth and inspire us in how we care for it, in what we sow and in what we reap, in what we plant and in what we prune.

Pope Francis says: "We received this world as an inheritance from past generations, but also as a loan from future generations, to whom we will have to return it!” What will we do about that?

What kind of a world do we want to hand on to them?
