Dear Ormond Primary Community,

Welcome Picnic Fun

What a wonderful night we had last Friday during the ‘OPS Welcome Back to School Rainbow Picnic’!

A colourful night with disco fun. We want to say thank you to The Ormond Ice Creamery Crew to come in this night with the yummy donuts and ice creams and to our famous Discofun Kids DJ fort he music and dance moves!

As P&F we are very happy that so many happy children, families and teachers came to school and celebrate the new school year with us!

This event is organised by P&F with help from the Year 6 reps and volunteers - thank you! Many willing hands make light work.

Calling All Class Reps

All our families got a message through Compass about the ‘Class representatives’. The Class Reps are key in helping the P&F with their endeavours throughout the year and we are now looking for volunteers to fill these roles.

Every class needs at least one parent class representative, but this role can also be shared with several parents in the class.

What does a class rep do?

  • Organises class social events, e.g. dinner, coffee, school holiday picnic. This is up to each individual class rep and as many or as few of these events can be arranged during the year. It can be as little as a couple of dinners a year or something more regular each term.
  • Assist the teacher to dissemminate information to families as needed e.g. class activities, need for volunteers in the classroom or on excursions, reminders regarding casual clothes days. This will often be guided by the teacher on an ‘as needed’ basis and these reminders are not frequent since most information is already relayed to parents via the school office directly.
  • Coordinate a community event. Every year level will help with one community event under guidance of a P&F member with experience and detailed notes relating to your event. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel! Remember this event pertains to the whole year level so it is class reps as well as parent volunteers across all classes who come together to coordinate this.

Please consider becoming the class rep for your child’s class(es).

It is an enjoyable way of becoming involved in the Ormond Primary School community and something that does not involve a lot of work.

Most importantly, it is so vital in keeping the flow of information going between parents and teachers. It helps the class that your is in operate more effectively, which benefits everyone in the long run!

You can volunteer to be a class rep by contacting P&F at p.and.f.ormond@gmail.com.

We're always contactable!!

Do you have a question, suggestion, offer of help? There is no need to wait for an invitation to contribute, as you can always contact P&F via our central email address. Simply write to p.and.f.ormond@gmail.com
