Principal's Report

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Thank you to all the students who assisted in decorating the garden in preparation for Christmas and to Debbie, Giacomo's Mum for organising this. It looks terrific!!!

Des McKenzie Award 2020

On Monday, 14 December, at 3pm, there will be special assembly for the presentation of this year’s Des McKenzie Award. For people who are not aware of whom Des was, he was the Principal of Anderson’s Creek for 17 years. Sadly he passed away in 2012, not long after retiring in 2010. The school, in conjunction with his partner and daughters, decided to honour his memory with an annual award.

When selecting the recipient, the whole staff has a say. We look at not only behaviour and an adherence to the school rules but also at selecting someone who strives to add creativity and innovation into their own learning whenever possible – traits that Des valued highly.

The Des McKenzie Award is a commemoration of the contribution that a former Principal of our school, Des McKenzie, made to both the Warrandyte Community and the lives of the many students who worked with him. Des was a Principal who valued responsibility, creativity and a willingness to have a go. During his time at ACPS, our school won many awards for our use of technology, with teachers being invited to tour schools in the USA and UK. We also had many teachers from other schools come and visit, to see how we used computers to enhance our programs.

Please join us for the presentation of the Des McKenzie Award
