Grade Prep

We are so proud of our Prep students this year. It has been challenging and very different from the year we all imagined. Despite this, they have completed Term 4 with smiles and a positive attitude. This week, the students began thinking about Grade 1 and wrote letters to their future teacher. See below for some of our thoughtful work.

The Prep Team would like to thank the students and parents for their continued efforts and support this year. We are heading into 2021 with some fond memories.- see below for some 2020 highlights.

We have been finishing off the year with fun in Prep P.E.! Students showed excellent teamwork and coordination skills in many of our rainbow parachute games. A favourite was cat and mouse! 

Grade 1

This week we celebrated Computer Science Week at SMPS by participating in the Hour of Code. This is an initiative to engage students in coding across the world for an hour to create a generation of digitally literate students. Congratulations to the Grade 1’s for participating in code.org and exploring concepts such as algorithms, commands, loops, and more! During the school holidays, students are welcome to continue engaging with coding using code.org!

Grade 2

Our wonderful Grade 2's have enjoyed the end of their year by publishing their information reports on a country of their choosing, creating decorative festive ornaments and enjoying the music of their peers and staff.  We are so proud of their work this year and our students and families a safe and fun holiday!

This week is Computer Science Week. It is celebrated all around the world. Every year at this time, our students participate in the Hour of Code. Together with coding out BeeBot robots, it's a great way to end the year in STEAM.

Grade 3/4

This week, grade 3/4A students merged tuned and un-tuned percussion to create their own pieces of music. They utilised the various playing and composing skills covered this term.

Grade 5/6

The Grade 5/6 students have been learning about our Solar System in Chinese. They have also been researching facts about different planets and creating posters about our Solar System in Chinese.
