2021 Book Collection

Collins Books have organised for the collection of books to be from the old Priceline store in the Langtree Mall on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Uniforms

We have been advised by the supplier of our polo shirts that delivery of our current order will not be made until late January next year. Although we have a large stock of polos shirts at the moment, we advise parents to complete an order form now and these can be collected and paid for next year on the following days: Monday 18th January from 1.30 to 6.30pm, Wednesday 20th January from 10.00am to 3.00pm and Wednesday 27th January from 8.30am to 4.30pm. We apologise for this as they would normally be shipped to us in November in readiness for the new school year.

If we find we are running low on stock, we may have to limit the number of polo shirts supplied to ensure all our new students will be able to be in school uniform at the commencement of the school year. If this does happen, we will be able to fill extra orders once they arrive.

Hats - Secondary Students

From next year, it will be compulsory for all year 7 students to wear a hat when they are participating in PE classes. We now have a black bucket hat with the school logo available for students to purchase at a cost of $10.00. These are available to all secondary students to purchase and wear during recess and lunch times as well as PE classes.

Uniform Shop

The College uniform shop will still be open on Monday January 18th from 1.30pm to 6.30pm, Wednesday January 20th from 10.00am to 3.00pm and Wednesday January 27th from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Social distancing measures will be in place if required.

Conveyance/CSEF

Conveyance and CSEF forms will be placed on our school website and Compass or can be collected from the main office by students or parents any day from Wednesday, January 27th.

Parent Payment Invoices

Family statements for parent payments will be emailed or posted out to families early in the 2021 school year. Payments can be made by BPay, direct deposit, over the phone by credit card or by attending in person at the school office.

Guitar Lessons 2021

Expressions of interest are invited for Guitar lessons in 2021 with Iwan Soebardi.Fees: Individual - $25 per lesson, payable by the term, for example 10 Weeks ($250) Group - $15 per lesson payable by the term To register your interest, please text or call Iwan directly on 04189 19220 with your email address. School Magazine

The decision has been made that we will not be printing a 2020 School Magazine. We know this is disappointing, as our families and staff love looking through the memories for the year. This year has been so disrupted, with a large portion of the school year spent at home remote learning. As a result we have not been able to include our usual content of camps, sporting events etc. Any families that have already paid for their school magazine will receive a credit to their family statement.

Remote Learning Devices

All devices that were borrowed over remote learning need to be returned to the school ASAP please. Thanks to those that have already returned them.

Uniform Shop

School uniforms can be purchased from the school’s main office between the hours of 8am and 4pm during the school week. If these hours are inconvenient for you, please ring the school to make an alternate arrangement.

Weekly Newsletter Emailed

The school distributes a full weekly school newsletter every second Thursday and an events reminder every alternate Thursday to families via email. With our new inewsletter you can now receive the weekly newsletter on your mobile phone if you have the school COMPASS App installed on your phone. Please give us feedback on our new Newsletter system and let us know what you think. If you have not received the newsletter by email, please notify the school to the following email addresses:

merbein.p10@edumail.vic.gov.au, with the subject Newsletter Email, so this can be rectified.

Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 who would like to take home a printed copy of the newsletter each week, can collect one from the main office every Thursday at 3.15pm.

Breakfast Club

The Merbein & District Community Bank is financially supporting the Breakfast Program. Foodbank Victoria also supports the breakfast program with donations of food. The following organisations provide volunteers to assist with the program; the Board & Staff of the Merbein & District Community Bank, Merbein Development Association, Merbein Lions Club, and Merbein Uniting Church. Merbein P-10 College parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer. The Breakfast Program is held in the school cafeteria. All students are welcome to come along between 8.15am and 8.45am each morning if they would like a FREE tasty breakfast to kick-start their days learning.

If you have time to volunteer for this community service from 8.15-8.45am on school days, please contact the school, we would love to hear from you. Please note that volunteers will need a Working with Children’s Check.

Student Absences

If your child is away from school, please notify the school before 10am. The preferred method to notify of absences is via the compass portal or by phone or sending an email to the following email address: Collihole.heather.h@edumail.vic.gov.au

An automated text message will be sent to your phone if your child is not at school and the school has not been notified.
