Catholic Identity Year 6 Leadership TeamLeading us in our first assembly for 2021

Congratulations to the Year 6 Catholic Identity Leadership Team who courageously led our school in whole school assembly for the first time in nearly ayear.  They all spoke so well and I was particularly moved by their desire and willingness to present their personal and lead and support our great school at our first assembly for 2021.  I look forward to continuing to work with this great group of school leaders in 2021, moving forward in the light of Jesus, to thrive and flourish.

Weekly masses for Middle and Senior Year students-

Our Senior and Middle year students attended mass for the first time in a year since covid last week. Father Mim was impressed with the student’s reverence and contribution to the masses.  Father Joe is very keen to have our students reading at these masses and singing once Covid restrictions ease.

13th Anniversary of National Apology made by Kevin Rudd (Former Prime Minister)

Last Saturday, 13th February marked the 13th Anniversary of the National Apology to Australia's First peoples, the Aboriginal people, by former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

At St. Brendan’s we are so fortunate to have many Aboriginal families at our school and we commemorate this significant day each year. It is an important moment to remember and reflect on the pain and shame of our history and recognize moments of healing and the power of saying ‘sorry’.  Unfortunately, again due to the Covid ‘snap lock down’ made by the premier on Friday, gatherings could not occur to commemorate this special occasion. I fondly remember sitting in the school hall on February the 13th in 2008, with all the students and teachers of St Brendans, watching this emotional heartfelt speech being delivered by the former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. It was such a poignant time in our nation’s history!
