Year 2 String presentation

The Year 2 String Program Presentation was held on Tuesday 25 May. Parents and staff were delighted to have an overview of the String Program.

The presentation demonstrated what we have done so far in the String Program and covered some of the important aspects of beginner string development.

The students performed happily to their audience, showing their ability to hold the instrument and bow correctly, to pluck and play the open strings with the bow using rhythmic patterns covered in the lessons.

A big thank you to the parents and staff for their support.

Suzuki performances

On 25 and 26 May, Suzuki violin ELC students Daniel Wu, Nicholas Qin and Samuel Kan performed to their classes. It was both Daniel’s and Nicholas’s first violin performance, and they both individually performed Twinkle’s Busy Busy Stop Stop with their teacher Vanessa Neagle.  Samuel performed several pieces from Book 1 solo, which he is preparing for the next Soiree.

Well done Daniel, Nicholas and Samuel!

VCE Recital Units 1 & 3

On Wednesday 19 May, the VCE Music Performance Recital was held in front of a captivated audience. 11 students from Units 1 and 3 Music Performance and Unit 3 Investigation performed a variety of instruments and styles of music which ranged from contemporary, jazz, classical and gospel.

In my first year at Kilvington, there were no

students completing Unit 3 Music. To see 11 students participating in this recital five years later was a testament to how far the Music Department has come in just a very short time.

The performances were of an incredibly high standard and thoroughly entertaining to watch. Congratulations to all students who performed, and a special thanks to their instrumental teachers who prepared them so capably on the evening.
