SACE Drama

Daniel Lynch, Drama Teacher

On Tuesday 24 May, SACE Drama students performed Adelaide playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer’s The Girl Who Was a Hundred Girls at the Domain Theatre to an audience of 60 people.

The performance formed 40% of the SACE Drama curriculum and involved rehearsals over eight weeks. We were fortunate to work with Renato Musolino and Ashton Malcolm, accomplished theatre practitioners who were instrumental in shaping the student's characterisation and deepening their understanding of the dramatic process. Students have worked as a cohesive ensemble to create each component of the production from sound and costume through to movement, despite a compressed rehearsal period with significant COVID disruption, and the challenges of performing in an external venue due to capital works at Aberfoyle Park High School. They dealt admirably with the sudden absence of three students on performance day, along with Mr Lynch getting COVID and having to Zoom into the theatre.

A special congratulations to the class on overcoming these hurdles and to Ms Jaensch and Mr Kammermann for stepping in to fill Mr Lynch’s absence. The ensemble achieved a high-quality production and demonstrated their resilience and persistence: chapeau!
