Performing Arts  Matters

There is no rest for our Concert and Jazz bands as we approach their performances at the Sydney Eisteddfod next week. This is the first time in 3 years that this event has been held live and we can’t wait to mix with other schools and hear a variety of performances.

Times for the performances are as follows.

• Senior Concert Band Sunday 2 June , 2.00 pm
• Primary Concert Band Monday 6 June, 10.30 am
• Junior Concert Band Monday 6 June, 4.00 pm
• Junior Jazz Band Wednesday 8 June, 10.30 am
• Intermediate Jazz Band Wednesday 8 June, 1.30 pm
• Senior Jazz Band Wednesday 8 June, 5.00 pm

All performances are at The Concourse and parents are most welcome to attend.

I am always looking for ways in which SPX students can be involved in the Performing Arts. We have a wide range of ensembles and are looking to develop areas in which we want to build on.

To this end, I’m looking for expressions of interest from boys in Years 5 - 7 in being part of training groups in the areas of flute and strings. No prior musical experience is necessary. We have a large group of Year 12’s finishing in these areas and would like to get some more juniors in to these areas. A more direct email will go out in the next few days asking to nominate for these groups. The desire is that after some preliminary training the students will move into one on one lessons and into our ensemble program. Please feel free to contact me directly for any details.
