Music Matters

Music Camp

23rd – 25th May

We are very excited to be able to hold our annual Music Camp next week. There are 94 students attending from all year levels from Soundworks, Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Stringworks, String Orchestra, String Quartet, and Jazz bands.

It is the perfect preparation for our Winter Concert on the 31st May. Students will be rehearsing together on their repertoire for the concert as well as participating in activities such as Flying Fox, Climbing Wall, Archery, Candle making and visiting a reptile room. There will be team building activities and of course the always memorable talent night. If you are involved please check the event on Compass and reminder emails for all the details you need to know before Monday.

Guitar Day

Friday 27th May

As our guitar students are not part of the Music camp due to lack of rehearsal spaces, Mr Sheers is running a guitar day on the Friday after camp to prepare Guitar Ensemble for the Winter’s Eve Concert. They will have focused rehearsals and fun activities along with a Pizza lunch. Consent can be given now through Compass for those students involved.

Winter's Eve Concert

Tuesday 31st May

We are thrilled that we can have a full audience for our Winter’s Eve Concert featuring all our music ensembles. Families and friends are encouraged to be there to see all the hard work their children have been doing to prepare for this entertaining night.

Welcome Suzi Reid

While Chris Ondaatje our clarinet specialist and Soundworks conductor is on long service leave, we are very pleased to have Suzi Reid taking Soundworks and teaching our clarinet students. Suzi is a very experienced and passionate musician and teacher, who we’re sure the students will love working with until the end of term two.
