Agricultural Training Officer- Pastures and Fodder

The College is seeking a new staff member to join the team.

The Pastures and Fodder Training Officer role is a new position at the College and will bring together the various pasture management and fodder conservation tasks across the College into one role.

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have experience in tasks associated with renovating and managing annual and/or perennial pastures plus hay and haylage fodder conservation. Experience in operating tractors and the various implements associated with pastures and fodder is essential. The ability to pass on your knowledge and skills to young adults is a crucial part of the role.

Working as part of a wider team your role will work with existing Training Officers involved in the beef, dairy and sheep enterprises to ensure fodder needs are met and tasks are undertaken in a planned and timely manner.

The role of an Agricultural Training Officer is to assist in the management and operation of one of the farm sections and conduct training and assessment in that context. As such the successful applicant will have specific industry skills in their enterprise area plus either possess or be assisted to develop a range of generic skills applicable to other farm enterprises. We understand that many new staff have not have formal experience delivering training, so we provide support and materials to assist in that part of the role.

Contact the college for more details.
