First 18 Football
The Senior Boys First 18 football team competed in the Herald Sun Division One local schools competition on Tuesday. Coming up against Portland Secondary College and Baimbridge College in the first two games the boys played good football as we recorded comfortable victories to head into the final against Monivae College, who were also undefeated for the day.
A fast start and some superb passages of transition football from the back to forward line saw the side two goals up at halftime. After kicking the first goal of the last half we looked comfortable however, Monivae bought the margin back to 10 points. We steadied for the final minutes and this was the difference at the final siren, seeing College crowned champions for the competition and going back to back! Well done to co-captains Fletcher Bright and Harry Mahar for their leadership and we will now represent Glenelg Division against the Warrnambool region in another opportunity for the side to showcase their ability.
Major goalkickers for the day included Kaeden Talay, Henry Bensch, Henry Dennis and Jack Austin. Better players included Ollie Wortley (voted player of the day), Tobe Adamson, Charley Falla, Ben Potter, Henry Haynes, Jock Barrie, Jack Wortley and Bensch.
