Principal Report

Dear families,

Building Communities. Research shows that parent and community involvement in school life and operations is one of the factors most closely associated with improved student learning outcomes.

Over the last week, it has been amazing to see how many parent/carers have given their time to attend and be involved in school activities. We realise that this involves changing work schedules, pick up times etc and we are grateful.

Building on the working bee and assembly two weeks ago, we have had a great turnout for our STOMP performance by the Prep, Grade 1 and 2 students. It was hot, sticky and humid...but the children did an amazing job showcasing their skills. A big thank you to Kate Warner for the amazing job organising (Allie in 2020 for booking STOMP) and Kirra the teacher from STOMP for their combined time and effort.

How good would it be if we had a covered area for those performances ; )

Adding to the fun we have had a huge turnout of parents/carer helpers at Athletics Day. Lots of participation, with those children who had the best results going through to compete in the district rounds. Thank you to Mel Layton and all the staff for organising an exciting day that allowed our children to showcase how active and healthy they are. Again thank you to those parent/carers who either volunteered or provided an audience.

It was a great effort by the staff relay team to beat the grade 34 and 56 teams ; )

Sandwiched in between those two events was the icky slime run. My personal favourite. It is not often we get a chance to be paid to get messy! The kids loved the change from the colour run (and we all loved how easy the clean up was). A special thank you to Jacinta Parolo and the P&F team for organising the event and the families of those children who kindly supported the fundraising drive. Please see the P&F page for the exciting news on how much we raised. Those funds will all go to play equipment for your children.

It really is easy when we come together. The events on the horizon next term are Thursday 5th May is Mother's Day and Friday 13th May is ladies' night.

A big help will be required from as many families as possible to make it easy all-round when we host an Election day BBQ in May at school. That is quickly followed by a Bunnings BBQ on the 5th of June. We really will need all your help! At the end of term, we have a Winter Walk to School Day where kids will be able to show off their new beanies.

Many hands make light work ; )

Let me wrap that up by saying a heartfelt thank you to you all for helping bring life back to Rolling Hills PS for our community!

Class Teacher First

The first community our children have is home with parent/carers providing the guidance they need to thrive. When they start school it is their class and their classroom teacher who help them flourish in their new community. If you have any concerns during a week, term, or year....please start with the classroom teacher. A simple email, chat at the door or a Compass message will see the teacher begin to help and support any challenges. From their, the teachers will seek the help they need to help you and your child.

Policies

At our recent School Council meeting we updated a number of policies. These will find a home on our new school website due to launch at the end of the term.

Two policies you may wish to familiarise yourself with are our Complaints Policy and Bullying Policy. See attached below.

Thank you for a wonderful term. Damien Smith's class will be running the last day assembly as the grade 56 students will be at the Grand Prix and I will accompanying them therefore Emily Murcott will close out a wonderful term. Thank you all so much.
