KINDNESS

Throughout my years of teaching and as a parent I have been told by many that they want their children to be kind, caring, resilient, and show perseverance.

At the Whole School Athletics Day we witnessed perseverance constantly as students completed events, even when they were exhausted. We witnessed students caring about one another as they cheered their peers in activities, students showed resilience when they placed lower than they had anticipated, students showed kindness by supporting students who hurt themselves or by finding the owner of items of clothing that had been left behind.

Those who were able to attend the Athletics Day were lucky enough to witness a "melt your heart moment"; the KINDEST act of the day. Whilst competing in a sprint, JJ P (2KH) recognised and responded to a friend who had hurt himself mid-race. JJ stopped competing and doubled back to support and encourage his friend to finish the race. It is the act that every parent wishes to see their child perform. I wish to congratulate and thank JJ for showing such kindness and compassion. What a truly inspirational moment. Thanks also to Christine and Darren; the apple does not fall far from the tree.

We are incredibly fortunate to be invited to take part in Eastland’s Friendology Friendship Ninja Zone. Our students will have the opportunity to colour in the Honesty posters. These will be created into decals and placed on the tables in Town Square between Hunter and Barrel and Lavazzi. The actual posters will be framed and be displayed in the centre throughout this year.

On the big screen, some friendship videos will be shown on the big screens. Last year was hard with the center shot for so long so we think this will enable students to visit Eastland and admire their work.

If you find yourself at Eastland throughout the holidays please visit the new Friendship Nina Zone that can be found on level 2 next to Witchery.

ACTIVE APRIL

When life feels challenging, staying active really helps. There's a lot we can't control, but when we choose to get moving and take care of our bodies, we can boost our energy and cope better with life's ups and downs.

Click here to listen to Vanessa from Action For Happiness talk about connecting mind and body this month.

Although I have acknowledged an act of kindness by a student already, I would like to acknowledge two parents as well. Jeannine D and Lauren B volunteered a few of their own hours pulling weeds from the garden at the back gate. Thankyou so much for your perseverance and kindness to make the area look much neater.
