Year 10 Visit from Mayor of Brimbank

The Year 10 Democracy Matters class were lucky on Monday to receive a visit from Cr Jasmine Nguyen, the Mayor of Brimbank. Cr Nguyen is the youngest ever mayor of Brimbank, and the first of Vietnamese heritage.

Cr Nguyen gave an engaging talk about local democracy, and how students could take action and have their voices heard in their local community. She talked passionately about youth and mental health, and the work she is driving to tackle these issues. She tackled hard issues from our students, who questioned her on sustainability, her achievements and challenges, and her corgi, Momo and their walks in Brimbank Park!

Thank you to Cr Nguyen and Brimbank Council for organizing an engaging speech and Q&A session, and inspiring our students to be leaders and take action on the things they are passionate about!
