Faith and Mission

On Tuesday 22 March, Years 7 - 11 celebrated their Reflection Days. Students from Year 7, Year 8 and Year 10 have shared their reflective pieces about the importance of the work they completed on the day or the messages that rang true for them.

The Year 7 Reflection Day

We created this illustration to spread the message of justice and peace. We wanted to express the fact that we are all equal. The illustration symbolises hope and freedom from injustice. The barbed wire changing into the rainbow shows how we can change hatred and injustice into love and freedom. The animal paws on this image represents justice for animals as well. We believe that we should spread the voice for animals when they cannot express it themselves.

Thank you to Ms Borg, our Year 7 Level Leader, the Year 7 teachers and support staff for planning and preparing the day for us.  Thank you also for providing all the students with morning tea. It was so nice to have a fun break with all the Year 7 students.

The Year 10 Reflection Day

On the 22nd of March 2022, the Year 10 cohort had the opportunity to participate in this year's Reflection Day, where we all had a chance to focus on ourselves and take part in a range of activities.

This was a fun and memorable day for us Year 10's, as it really gave us the opportunity to work with different people from other homerooms and get to know them on a deeper level. We had 3 great guest speakers join us to talk about self qualities and what we would want to see within our school community. Furthermore, we participated in activities which helped us see how great we really are. Some of those activities included building a tower with spaghetti (identifying our level of perseverance), card selection with qualities (positive qualities of each person) and more!

To conclude our day, we had an amazing Bollywood dancer teach us some dance moves, which also helped us to become more confident and comfortable within our cohort of peers. This was the highlight of our day as many students were enjoying themselves with fun and laughter. It enabled the whole Year level to be together rather than split up into groups like earlier in the day.

Overall, the Bollywood dancing experience was just what we just needed as it simply allowed us to enjoy each other’s company. From experiencing this day, we would definitely like to participate in something like this again.

Thank you to Mrs Fabbian our Year 10 Level Leader and Mrs Matejin for organising our day and working behind the scenes to ensure we all had a worthwhile day away from our usual classes. Thank you to all the Year 10 teachers who joined in with us throughout the day and finally thank you for the delicious morning tea that was provided for us. It was the icing on the cake.

Year 10 Leaders

Tuesday 22 March was the Year 8 Reflection Day. This day was full of fun and we definitely got to reflect on our behaviour, decisions we make online and things we can be doing to build and establish strong friendships with each other. We were also in casual clothes which everyone was happy about! The theme for the day was friendship, which allowed us to reflect on the way we treat others and how we are able to be better friends.

The day began with making a basketball stand out of newspapers. This was judged by Ms Ciccone and Ms Scott. The activity was based on which homeroom was able to work together effectively and produce a stand that held a basketball for 20 seconds. After that we continued with the Year 8 liturgy, which had been put together by the SPG and SRC leaders at Year 8.

Finally, the end of the day we had 2 performances by Project Rockit who taught us what we can do if we were cyber bullied or if we notice someone being cyber bullied. This year's Reflection Day was lots of fun and was a great reminder about the skills needed to acquire solid friendships. Thanks to Project Rockit for their time and the Year 8 staff and students for their enthusiasm on the day!
