Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome Back to Term 2
I hope the break provided time for your family to come together, to share special moments and to enjoy some autumn sunshine. It is satisfying to be back at school together and to feel settled.
Swimming
This fortnight, our students had a fabulous time learning to swim, and developing essential lifesaving skills, by participating in the school’s swimming program.
Mother’s Day Stall
The Social and Fundraising committee held the annual Mother's Day Stall on Thursday. Generous community donations ensured the students had plentiful gifts to choose from, for their mums or significant others in their lives. Thank you to everyone who helped make the Mother’s Day stall such a relevant and successful activity.
ANZAC Day Ceremony
Last week, we held a special ANZAC Day assembly. We are so proud of our students for leading such a heartfelt and respectful service. Thank you to all our families and friends who were able to attend.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program for Language and Numeracy starts next week for our Year 3 and 5 students. NAPLAN is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and numeracy. Some students may feel a little anxious participating in the national tests. This is the reason we do not place extra emphasis on the tests. NAPLAN is a data collection tool, that provides schools with a snapshot of where the students sit academically, in one moment in time. The main purpose of the data collection is for schools to be able to identify areas needing improvement and identifying achievement to be celebrated.
Movie Making Program 2022
Next week, Bruce Grantford our movie director and producer, will visit the students to listen to their ideas, regarding movie themes they would like to explore. A notice will be posted on Compass shortly outlining the program and costs.
Begin with the End in Mind Tip Bits
- If you do not know where you are going, then you probably won’t end up there.
- The next time your mind wanders, follow it around for a while.
- In every heart is a hidden longing and ambition to do something fine and enduring.
- No one can go back and make a brand-new start; but anyone can start from here and make a brand-new end.
- Our thoughts create our reality, where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go.
- The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Thought for the Week
We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. -Maya Angelou
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
