Year 4 celebrate PALentine's Day!

Be My PALentine

As part of the URStrong program, Year 4 celebrated PALentine’s Day with a very sweet activity. They identified character strengths in others and expressed their appreciation for their friends.

The students were asked “What qualities do you admire most in your friends?”  They then gave their colourful markers, glitter pens, & scissors a workout, to create their PALentine notes.

The teachers used this activity to strengthen that sense of community + belonging in their classroom by doing this as a whole class. It was lovely to see the students eyes light up when they were able to give and receive these kind notes.

Thank you Mrs Bosomworth & Miss Lennon

Mrs Bosomworth and Miss Lennon have worked very hard on weekends to start creating a wonderful new area that showcases the URStrong program that is delivered in Year 3 - 5. Mrs Maxwell has provided an overview of this program on the Wellbeing and Engagement page of this newsletter. This space will provide a welcoming space for students to meet and talk with friends, and be reminded of the URStrong strategies and philosophy. There is still more painting to be done with details of how students can work through conflict with their peers, as well as lovely bench seating and a shade sail. Watch this space!

Parents and Friends Association President

On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank Kylie Carlton for the two years she has devoted to the role of Parents and Friends Association President.

During this time she has led the Fundraising team to organise and run so many excellent events, raising money to improve our school environment. Since her daughter Lucy started in Foundation, Kylie has been an active member of the Fundraising team, as well as organised two highly successful Fetes. She will be sorely missed, but I thank you Kylie for all you have done for the Great Ryrie community. We wish you well in your new endeavours.

Expression of Interest for Parents and Friends Association President

This opens up an exciting opportunity for a new PFA President, and we welcome expressions of interest for any member of the community interested.

The Parents and Friends Association (PFA) enables more input from our parent body and promotes a feeling of inclusion. To enable the PFA to run effectively we would like to appoint a PFA President to work alongside myself. The PFA will come together regularly to source ideas, organise events and work collaboratively with the staff at GRPS.

We are seeking an expression of interest from our community to be the President of our PFA. We are looking for someone who can create a respectful environment for people to share ideas and work together. We are also looking for a commitment to supporting the school, organising events and encouraging parents to come on-board to raise money for continued improvement of the school and its’ facilities. Please email your expression of interest addressed to Melissa Roberts via the school email: great.ryrie.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au

If you are interested in being a member of our Parents and Friends Association, please look at the Fundraising page and come along to our first meeting of the year.
