Principal's Message

On behalf of all the staff I welcome all members of the College community back to this new year. Undoubtedly 2021 was a very special year in the sense that, with all the challenges, there were many successes from many individuals as well as the school community. I especially acknowledge the year 12’s of 2021 who performed extremely well in their studies with results that provided them a stepping stone to their desired pathway. We look forward to what this year may hold and the opportunities to further the development of our College.

In the coming weeks the College will launch our new Vision and Mission Statements as well as present our School Improvement Plan for 2022 – 2025 and the 2022 Annual Action Plan. These new and updated documents are presented as a result of an exceptional whole school review in 2021 and will provide us with an exemplary platform for future growth. We will continue to build our leaning programs and we are confident that there will be many avenues for the students to share their individuality and creativity over the year.

I take this opportunity to welcome our new Year 7’s and other students new to the school and I am confident that they are at the start of a wonderful journey. They are in a position to make use of the many advances over the past years and I know that there will be many students to lend them a helping hand when required.

It is important to recognise the Year 12’s as the student leaders of the College. It is by their example that the rest of the school will be judged. We do expect a great deal from them both in their support of school expectations and also in their approach to their studies. There has been a great deal of preparation to bring them to this point of their academic journey. All their efforts will be worth it in the end. Our Year 11’s are reminded that their progression to the Senior school means that they share in student leadership. We look forward in watching them develop their leadership qualities over 2022.

A very special welcome also to all new staff. We are grateful for all the gifts and talents that they bring to our community which I am certain will be evident through their efforts over 2022.

This year we celebrate the Kildare Ministries Core Value of Compassion – Walking with and having empathy for all. This value fits so well with our school motto Strength and Kindness. We can all be strong people but today, more than ever before in your lives I suspect, we will all need to show kindness to others and be open to receive kindness in return. We have a responsibility to lift the spirits of others by your care and support. By your compassion. You are in a position to bring peace into people’s lives. Where you see conflict lead the way for people to overcome their differences and promote signs of hope and goodness.

As another school year begins, we as members of the Marian Community are blessed with many gifts and by showing strength and kindness we will bring those gifts out for others to share. The gift of learning, gifts of helping others grow and succeed. Let’s encourage all students to be role models and leaders. Together, let us live out the vision of our school and show that we can make a positive difference. Every new year brings with it new beginnings. There are new friendships to be made, new hopes, new responsibilities. All in all I wish everyone a most memorable year. Best wishes to you all.
