Fire Carriers / Smoking Ceremony
Tomorrow we acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we learn on the Wurrundjeri people of the Koolin Nation. Uncle Ian a traditional Elder will join us after our Beginning of School Year Mass to hold a Smoking Ceremony to welcome us to Traditional Land to start our School Year. We look forward to continuing to work with Uncle Ian as part of our Fire Carriers Program (Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education).

Academic Competition News
Last year at St Bede’s we had 27 students participate in academic competitions!
These competitions were:
The University of NSW competitions (Digital Technology, Spelling, Maths, Science, Writing and English) and the
Australian Mathematics Trust- Australian Mathematics Competition.
These competitions offer another snapshot of student achievement and it was pleasing to see students enrol from Year 2 to Year 6!
When we are next able to have a school assembly the following students will be presented with certificates acknowledging their academic achievements:

*NB: Please note that I will only be presenting awards at assembly to students who achieved a Credit, Distinction or High Distinction award in the following competitions:

All other certificates from the above competitions) will be sent home in envelopes in the coming week.
