Pick up and Drop Off

With a higher number of students on site this week, the carpark and kiss and drop have been much busier. Please familiarise yourself with the carpark map attached to this week’s newsletter as this will ensure a safer drop off for all members of the community. At times, a staff member may approach you and ask to reposition your car. If you have any questions about how any of our procedures work, please see a staff member. Some key points to highlight…

  • The bottom driveway gate is for cars only. Pedestrians access through the park gates.
  • The eastern side of the front carpark near the main school entry is closed off between 8.30 and 8.45am and 3.10-3.30pm. You are free to park here if spots are available but cannot leave until the allocated time.
  • Stopping on Audrey Ave to pick up or drop off passengers slows the flow of all traffic and is extremely dangerous for passengers and other vehicles.
  • The Staff Carpark is for staff only.

Community

Over the next few weeks we will start to reconnect as a community after a disjointed few months. This presents challenges in a time poor world. How do we build positive relationships when school and family have so little time together? Information tends to become communicated in more formal ways and via technology. Technology in this sense though brings us together and pushes us apart at the same time. As a parent of high school students I know it becomes harder as children progress through this phase of school. There are more teachers to meet and keep track of, sometimes for terms or semesters at a time only, and almost all communication is via technology.

In the primary school setting, as children are nurtured to develop a love of learning and wonder and explore, the relationship with between one classroom teacher and the home, provides a unique opportunity.

While the year is still young, it is important to form a positive relationship with your child’s teacher. Unfortunately, this won’t be in a face to face setting as much as in the past. But this is still a significant adult in the life of your child. Through tears, laughter, awe and confusion, your child’s teacher will be a constant source of comfort and connection. Clear and respectful lines of communication are vital to the learning AND wellbeing of your child.

As a Lutheran school, it also important to note that these relationships are built on the values and belief systems of a Christian community. Please make the most of this initial stage of the school year to get to know your child’s teacher. The stronger our sense of community is, the more we all benefit.

Music Tuition

As we continue to be asked to limit non-essential visitors on-site, music tuition with Tina Hill (piano) and Learning Through Music (singing and other instruments) is on hold until Week 5 (28/2) at the earliest.

If your child is interested in starting music tuition, please contact Tina for piano lessons at tinahill00@gmail.com or Sue at Learning Through Music at info@ltmusic.com.au

Lessons generally take place during class time with some available before and after school. Lesson times during the day change times regularly to ensure students do not miss the same time each week.
