Brigidine Celebration Day

On Thursday 1st September, we celebrated our annual Brigidine Celebration Day and it was nice to return to some form of normality after the two years of COVID and isolation.

The day began with a wonderful Mass and celebration that set the theme for the day and that was linked to our theme for the year:

Compassion – “Walking with and having empathy for all”

After mass, all students returned to school from St Leo’s Croatian Catholic Church and the whole school participated in the activity of creating a message of Compassion that was photographed using the school drone.

After this the next part of the day included an abundant supply of food, carnival activities and rides – Jumping Castle, Stunt Jump, Buck and Bull and Gladiator challenge. We also had a DJ – that had a very large percentage of the school moving and grooving to the music.

At the end of the day all students returned to their year level groups and the day concluded with a celebration of whom we are as a community with a range of our cultures presenting their cultural dances and customs.

This was a day of celebration and acknowledgement of who we are as a community. It was so nice that we could celebrate this all together as one, because it is true in what they say that united, we stand together…

Leadership Process begins…

As we move towards the end of term 3 and the start of term 4 we begin the process of selection of our Student Leadership Team for 2023.

The process begins when at the end of Term 2 Year 11 students submit their Leadership Booklets. We now move on to the next phase which sees those 19 students who have submitted the booklet invited to attend a Leadership Day. Held on Thursday 15 September the day focuses on what makes a good team and what each member of the group can bring to the team.  Remembering that there is no ME in team we identify how we can work most effectively together.

From here all of the candidates are invited to submit an application for Lamp Bearer. Shortlisted applicants are interviewed and Year 11 students and all staff are invited to vote for Lamp Bearer 2023.

We look forward to keeping you updated on the process as it progresses over the next couple of months.

Uniform Change Over for Term 4

With the start of Term 4 we remind our students and families that there is a change over to our summer uniform.

This means a return to either our summer dress and blazer or the continuation of wearing the school pants and emblemed shirt with our blazer.

This would be an appropriate time to check out your uniform and see if it needs to be changed in any way. We still have a delay in orders of the school pants but we have summer dresses available.

The uniform shop is open on Wednesday and Friday of this week and over the holidays if you require assistance. The Noone shop at Hoppers Crossing can also assist you with uniform requirements.

We look forward to the weather improving and the return of the summer uniform.

RU Okay Day – last week

Each year on the second Thursday of September, we identify this day as:

                                           RU Okay Day

This year led by our Educating for Justice Leader, Ms Wendy Smith, activities were organised by the Justice and Democracy Forum and were held during homeroom on the day.

The message was also very clear.  It should not just be on this day that we ask each other how we are going, or look out for others, but every day. This should be something that we do every day to ensure that we build the strongest and healthiest community that we can.

Remember it only takes a few seconds to ask someone how they are going and are they OKAY?
