Principal's Message

Term 3 2022 has been run and won and I do mean "won" because there has been so much to celebrate as successes this term.

The introduction and launch of the new Year 9 & 10 Learning Program has been a highlight and there has been much excitement from the students as they chose their 2023 subjects. The consultation and planning in preparation for this major change at the school was extensive and the final product provides each individual student a myriad of choices to pursue. The Subject Handbooks, alongside the videos explaining the offerings, were well received and clearly outlined what students can expect if they chose that elective. The Year Level Information Nights gave Parents/Guardians the opportunity to sit alongside their young one and counsel them as to a meaningful and fulfilling program. Finally, the mentoring support provided by staff allowed each student to carefully consider their options and choose electives that they will enjoy and excel in.

Getting to enjoy an onsite Brigidine Celebration Day was three years in the making and we finally managed it on September 1. The day started with the whole school Mass celebrated by Bishop Terry Curtain and our 2022 theme of Compassion was central to the messages proclaimed throughout this liturgy. The student and staff participation and reverence was a true reflection of our standing as a faith community and the upholding of all our Core Values. The rest of the day also focused on "celebration" and students were able to enjoy activities with their friends and peers. Smiles and laughter was symbolic of the good times that were had. Of special note was the whole school activity that led to an artistic representation of our theme Compassion. The day concludedwith a number of performances of cultural dancing. All in all, the 2022 Brigidine Celebration Day will go down as one to remember as we, once again, displayed what it means to be a Marian Community.

Then on 2 September we had over 150 guests in the Gymnasium to celebrate Father's Day. They were treated to a wonderful spread of delicacies for breakfast as well as the opportunity to meet up with other dads and Father figures. This was an important celebration especially as the students were able to acknowledge the impact of their fathers on their lives. A very big thank you to Rose Cassar and her team, as well as the VCAL students and staff, for their organisation and support of this wonderful event.

The above are just snippets of all the great things that have happened this term. I thank students, staff and families for your contribution to it's success. For those able to have a break I pray that it is a safe and enjoyable one. We look forward to a similarly productive Term 4.
