Tag On

By now all students will have been provided with a Tag On tag in their House colour.  If parents do not want their child/ren to participate, please send the tag back to the school.

The students are asked to 'tag on' each morning when they arrive at school.  They then select the way they arrived - walk, cycle/scoot, public transport or car.

The data around how the children are arriving to school is of greatest interest to the Council as they will use the data to make decisions on infrastructure.

On occasions the school may more actively encourage riding/scooting or walking to school as we support health promotions within the community - for example Ride to School Day or Walktober.

Over the last few years the School Council's Traffic Walking Party has been working to encourage walking or riding/scooting to school in order to assist with the traffic congestion around the school, this is still a focus for us as well.

How Will the School Use the Data?

We are keen to assist the Council to collect this data as it may assist them to make decisions that increase the traffic safety around our school. For this reason children will be strongly encouraged to accurately select their mode of travel.

The Tag On system may also assist in giving parents peace of mind that their child has arrived safely to school, particularly if they are travelling alone.

The Tag On system allocates points to students for tagging on (House Points) and selecting their mode of travel (Travel Points).  From investigating the data portal, all participants will receive a point for selecting a mode of travel - no form of travel collects more points than another.

At each assembly the Traffic Ambassadors will announce the House Points collected by the students that week and they will also announce the Travel Points for the top three grades.

If you have any questions about the Tag On system please contact the office.
