Teaching

Bachelor of Educational Studies The Bachelor of Educational Studies has been designed for domestic and international students who are passionate about becoming teachers, but do not achieve the entry requirements to go directly into one of the suite of Education degrees.

Although the 3-year Bachelor of Educational Studies allows students to gain a qualification to work in education-related fields other than teaching, it is also designed as a pathway for students who wish to consider future study in teaching in Early Childhood and Primary Education.  Eligible students who successfully complete their first year of study (subject to meeting certain progression and non-academic requirements) may apply for transfer into the second year of the Bachelor of Education suite of courses. Students who complete the three years of study can progress to a postgraduate Initial Teacher Education qualification.

Students should note that this course alone will not lead to early childhood, primary or secondary teacher registration in Australia.Find out more at Bachelor of Educational Studies

Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation

The Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation may be the right study choice for students with the motivation, capability, and personal attributes to be a great teacher.

The Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation (Dip TEP) is an accredited qualification aimed at domestic students who do not initially meet the minimum ATAR for teaching.

Successful completion of the Dip TEP will ensure that students graduate with the prerequisite knowledge and skills to undertake a rigorous undergraduate teacher education course.  The Dip TEP supports students to meet the literacy and numeracy standards they will need in order to graduate with a teaching qualification and supports them to meet the demands of study at a higher education level.

The course introduces them to contemporary issues in education and to teaching as a profession, including practical school-based placement.

The course is offered by a number of institutions, including ACURMITSwinburne, and VU Polytechnic.
