Student success stories

Kingston Youth Art Awards

The college was well-represented in the City of Kingston Youth Art Awards with a number of students being recognised with a placing or honourable mention.  The competition, open to 12 to 17 year olds, had the theme of 'hope' and how it can be visually represented and what it means to the individual.

Congratulations to:  Adelina G (Year 11) placed second; Sienna P (Year 7) placed third; Isolda B (Year 9) an honourable mention and Cathy Van S (year 11) who also received an award. It's exciting to know we have these talented students in our community whao took the time to creative and share their artworks.  Please continue to follow your passions.

Dancing

Sienna R (Year 9) performed in the Australian Ballet’s Harlequinade in the last week of June.  She performed brilliantly. What an amazing achievement for this young ballerina!

Hair with Heart

Noor F (Year 7) has recently donated her hair to charity to help make wigs for children with cancer. What a kind and noble act from such a young woman. Hair With Heart Website

Wool 4 School competition

Siena P (Year 12) was awarded 3rd place for this year's Wool4School design competition. The Australia-wide competition receives thousands of entries each year and s run by Woolmark the authority that represents Australia’s wool growers adn supports the promotion of our wool through research and develop.

This year's design brief was to design for your hero, with the hero fibre being 70% wool. Siena chose Priscilla Presley. Congraulations Siena.

Running all over the place

Freya B (Year 11) represented Victoria at the Australian Cross Country Championships held in Adelaide in late August. The course was Oakbank Racecourse, just 25 minutes out of the city centre. Freya ran the 4km course through extremely muddy conditions that saw many people fall over and even lose shoes. Fortunately Freya's triple knots managed to stay tied and she was placed 50th out of 71 with a time of 17:56. The entire meet was an amazing experience with lots of lessons learnt.
