As part of their exploration of nervous systems, year 9 Science students dissected sheep brains . This is what they learned.
On Thursday we dissected a sheep's brain, We learnt about the different parts of the brain and their functions including the Cerebrum and the Cerebellum. It was very interesting to observe these parts of the brain in real life and compare them to a Human Brain.

We gained a firm understanding of the brain's functions and how it connects. It was interesting to gain new knowledge on how a sheep brain differs from a human brain. This task was interactive, but also fun as the unit came to an end.

In one of our final practical classes for the term, the Year 10 Food for Life classes were given the opportunity to participate in the Indigenous ingredients incursion. Yolanda Mauro showed and explained the different native ingredients of herbs and plants, their flavourts and health benefits. It included wattleseed, lemon myrtle, pepper berries, and many more. We then cooked brownies and tzatziki using selected flavours.
Working in a group of four, two people on creating the wattleseed brownies, and two on the tzatziki with rivermint, as well as toasting the flatbread.
This incursion was a great experience for all of us, and allowed us to connect more with the indigenous culture through the use of different ingredients. It was fun to experiment with the indigenous ingredients and taught us new skills and techniques whilst cooking with them. Both dishes we all made turned out delicious, and we definitely plan on making it again!
